How to Plan a Month of Social Media Content for Your Perth Hospitality Business

The most common social media problem I see with Perth cafes and restaurants is not bad content. It is inconsistent content. A burst of posts when things are quiet, then nothing for three weeks when the kitchen is flat out. The algorithm rewards consistency, and so do your customers. The fix is a simple monthly content calendar.

Start with your content pillars

Pick four themes your posts will rotate through. For most hospitality businesses these work well:

  • The food. Hero dishes, specials and new menu items. This is your strongest content, so it gets the most slots.
  • The people. Your chefs, staff and regulars. Faces build connection in a way plates cannot.
  • The place. Your venue, your vibe and your corner of Perth, whether that is the CBD, Northbridge or the northern suburbs.
  • The offer. Deals, events and reasons to visit this week.

A simple weekly rhythm

Three to four feed posts a week is plenty for most venues, plus daily stories. A rhythm we use often looks like this: a hero food Reel early in the week, a people or behind-the-scenes post midweek, an offer post on Thursday to drive weekend visits, and a venue or atmosphere post on the weekend. Stories fill the gaps with specials, polls and reposts from customers.

Plan around Perth’s calendar

Every month has local moments worth planning for. School holidays, long weekends, footy finals, Perth Festival and Fringe World in summer, and of course Christmas and New Year. Add these to your calendar at the start of the month so your content and offers are ready in time, not posted the day after.

Batch your content

Set aside one or two hours a week, ideally before service when the light is good, to shoot everything at once. Film the specials, grab a few team moments and capture the room. Batching is what makes a calendar realistic for a busy hospitality business.

Engagement is half the job

Reply to every comment and message, ideally within a few hours. People often ask about bookings, opening hours and dietary options in the comments, and a fast, friendly reply turns a curious scroller into a booking. It also signals to the algorithm that your account is active.

Review once a month

At the end of each month, look at which posts got the most saves, shares and profile visits, and plan more of those. Drop the formats that consistently fall flat.
